Conocophillips Alaska - STP Clarifiers

Epperheimer Incorporated provided full abrasive blasting and specialty coating services for the new clarifier system supporting the Kuparuk Seawater Treatment Facility on Alaska’s North Slope. More than 1,000 fabricated steel components, totaling 22 truckloads from Lower 48 fabricators, were received at our Kenai coating facility where each piece was prepared and coated with a high-abrasion-resistant epoxy system designed for long-term service in demanding Arctic operating conditions.

The project required extensive logistics coordination, quality control, and handling procedures to protect coated steel during transport to the North Slope, including specialized loading methods utilizing softeners and vibration protection. Following erection by NANA Construction, Epperheimer Incorporated mobilized to the field to complete abrasive blasting, coating of tie-in welds, and repair of handling damage to ensure coating integrity throughout the completed clarifier system. The project was successfully executed over multiple phases while maintaining strict quality and schedule requirements for this critical infrastructure upgrade.
